Yesterday, sixth grade practiced order of operations with slices of pizza! Students were disappointed to find the pizza boxes didn’t have food in them, but they had fun practicing math anyway. They worked in groups to solve expressions and placed the slices in the corresponding box. They were then challenged with solving one last expression based on the number of slices missing from each pizza. #MTA #Math 🍕
Kindergarten enjoyed Valentine's Day by reading "Valentine's Cats!" After reading the book, they made their own cat valentines! #MTA #ValentinesDay ♥🐱
Today was the 100th day of kindergarten for our kindergarteners! Time has sure flown by as you can see!! Zero the Hero was kidnapped by Devious Agent 99. Students had to finish missions to complete Devious 99’s demands. They had to create cheerio necklaces (made of 100 cheerios), to use as fuel for their missions. They had to create a trail mix counting by 20, solve the mystery blocks using a magnifying class and create tens using large dice. Their final task was to put together the hidden message! #MTA #100thDay 🔎💯
Mrs. Johnson’s third grade math class is learning about area and perimeter using cheese crackers. Learning is more fun when you can eat the lesson materials when you’re done! #MTA #Math 🧀

We celebrated our nation yesterday for Catholic Schools Week! Students and faculty had the opportunity to wear their patriotic gear, dress like their favorite president or their future career! First grade joined their seventh grade buddies to read. Seventh grade gave reading tips to their buddies and maps to teach about related topics such as turtles, sharks and famous people. Prep’s AFJROTC also stopped by campus for a presentation and taught our students how to properly fold a flag! #MTA #CSW2023 🔴⚪🔵
Yesterday, we celebrated vocations! Students and faculty were able to dress in spirit wear or as their favorite saint! Students also got to enjoy a fun game of KaHoot in the cafeteria! #MTA #CSW2023
Yesterday, we celebrated our community for the first day of Catholic Schools Week! Members of the local community came come in to play board games and dodgeball with our students! The students really enjoyed seeing the fun side of these community members and getting to know the personal side of them! #MTA #CommunityDay

We "heart" art at MTA!! Kindergarten, first and second grade were busy at work creating heart themed artworks inspired by artists like Jim Dine, Jenn Stark and JGoldcrown last week! Student learned different techniques of mark making and observed the different art styles of each artist. We LOVE seeing the creativity and uniqueness of every piece that these young artists bring to Miss. Nordlund's art room. #CreateAnyway ♥
Second grade was “shaping” up their understanding of geometrical attributes with Mrs. Barger’s hands-on math lesson. Students gained a better understanding of how to describe a shape by the number of sides/vertices it has through making Play-Doh models. #MTA #Math 🔶🟦🟠

Kindergarten’s elf Tinsel hid Polar Express tickets and candy canes for them this morning!! He left Mrs. Vella a voicemail telling them to use flashlights to find the goodies, so they didn't wake the adults. Tinsel and Olaf were playing with the Polar Express train and left them the book to read too!! They found everything! #MTA #HolidayFun 🚂

The nighttime showing of our holiday concert, “Winter Wonderland,” took place last evening. Third and fourth grade kicked it off with their set, including a cool rendition of “Cold Snap.” The fifth grade Ukulele Ensemble hit the stage with some fun tunes, including the classic “Mele Kalikimaka.” The Singing Saints graced attendees with a classic rendition of the “Christmas Pops Trio.” The sixth grade Boomwhacker Crew brought a unique vibe to some Christmas classics, including the “Nutcracker March.” The seventh and eighth grade Jingle Jam Ensembles closed out the night with a bang with their bucket drum Trans-Siberian Orchestra mashup. Guests were also treated to a hot cocoa bar, Christmas movie and door-decorating contest! #MTA #WinterWonderland ❄🎅🤶🎄⛄
Part one of our holiday concert, “Winter Wonderland,” took place yesterday! Our kindergarten, first and second graders put on amazing show! Kindergarten and first grade kicked off the afternoon with their set, including the “Blitzen Boogie.” Second grade closed with their set and a joyful interpretation of “Feliz Navidad!” Students showed off their amazing voices and dance moves! Tonight, our nighttime showing features our third through eighth graders. Performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and there will also be a door decorating contest and Christmas movie. Today, kindergarten had to save Astro Nova from Planet Orange. You see, her partner left her behind and the aliens began to attack her and she began to turn orange! If they didn't work together quickly, Astro Nova would be gone to Plant Orange forever!
They first became astronauts and found their partners, binding them together. They worked together with their legs tied together to make sure they don’t lose each other!
They went through seven different tasks leading them to the combination to unlock the bags that held the special tools to save Astro Nova! However, they had to watch out for the aliens that would freeze them and keep them from solving the puzzles!
They had to count, sort, classify and build with objects! They worked together and saved Astro Nova, unlocking oranges and cheese poofs! #MTA #Learning #Fun 🚀🌌
Earlier this week, first grade spent time learning about Thanksgiving. They read books about the first Thanksgiving and how we have formed our own traditions since then. They spent the day exploring centers, including making necklaces and building turkeys from different materials. Their favorite activity was pretending to be pilgrims by dying socks from the dyes of red cabbage and spinach! #MTA #ThanksgivingFun 🦃
